“Hi! I’m Rusty! Born and raised in the SoFlo, you can usually find me waiting in line at Chick-fil-A, telling dad jokes, and trying to harmonize with everything that makes noise. Music has always been a huge part of my life, from the time I was cast in my school’s Christmas play in the second grade, to Candlelight, All State, and numerous other vocal ensembles. I feel so blessed to have found an accepting family in No Southern Accent, and I love performing with such an uplifting and talented group of singers. I can’t wait to see all the incredible things No Southern Accent accomplishes as a group in the coming years!” –Rusty

“I was 4 years old when my parents got me to be a singer on a Christian TV show. I don't remember much from that experience but I do know that it was a solid start for my music career. In middle school I picked up flute, piano and guitar and quickly made practicing music a part of my daily routine. I didn't quite know how I was going to pursue music in college until I auditioned on a whim for NSA--and I'm so glad I did. NSA allows me to escape from overwhelming classes and involvement and channel my energy into the thing I've loved since I was 4." -Kim

"Singing has been a huge part of my life from elementary school to my college years. I've been involved in choir, glee club, and musical theatre productions throughout my entire life, and my passion to perform has only since strengthened. The stage has taught me a lot about myself and my love to sing has enabled me to grow in so many ways. I could not be more thrilled and proud to hone in on an incredible group of performers to create some dynamic a cappella experiences during my final year. When I'm not singing, you can probably catch me in Marston until 1AM (watching HTGAWM, not studying, to be clear)." -Tristan

I also was in an a cappella group in high school (shout-out to Hawkappella), and even did a little bit of musical theater in 6th grade. Outside of rehearsal you will probably find me playing literally any sport, eating way too much food at Broward Dining, or playing Mario Kart. I'm so excited to see what this group can accomplish this year!" -Alex

“Hi, I’m Maddie! I have been around music my entire life, whether it was my mom and I belting our favorite songs on the radio driving home from school, or my dad showing me his extensive Beatles and Bowie album collection. Growing up, I did all the music things - orchestra, band, but I truly found my love for music in choir and theatre. I love to perform and am so glad to have found my family here at UF. I am so proud to be a part of a group with such amazing individuals that support and help each other grow every day. If you ever need me, I can be found sipping coffee watching John Mulaney stand-up, and listening to holiday music.

"In the midst of any trial, I've learned, music is your best outlet, catharsis, and friend. Growing up without a father really took a toll on my identity and how I viewed myself. This is where music comes into play: I am who I am when I sing. Fully grasping this concept in high school, I became friends with other musicians as we shared our story through our band, The Art That Changed Me. Our art truly transformed me every time we performed, leading me to completely fall in love. Being a No Southern Accent member brings me joy because I know I'll be able to continue this passion as we connect and mold the lives of others. Besides making music, I am a huge fan of How I Met Your Mother, The Office, Foxing the Band, and life-changing naps.” –Emilie

Despite performing at countless events, adrenaline kicks in every time I step on stage! Becoming a part of No Southern Accent was like stepping into a family away from home. When I’m not singing, you can usually find me studying, begging my friends to play board games, or watching Hallmark Christmas movies.” -Jamie

“I’ll start off by saying I don’t have a life of formal experience with music. I did marching band throughout high school, but that’s about it. But, I’ve been a patron of the “bang on anything that sounds cool” arts since a very young age, which transformed into beatboxing once I discovered that concept circa 2013. Sadly, marching band didn’t have a use for this skill, and neither did anything else. So entering college, I was intrigued by the idea of a cappella as a musical outlet. Little did I know what kind of awesomeness awaited me." -Andrew

I’m thrilled to have NSA and its talented members help me keep music a huge part of my life throughout college.” -Jazmyn

“I had taken piano lessons from age 7 and always sung to myself in the car and shower, but never knew I was any good. In 7th grade, I wanted to play football, however my mom decided to sign me up for the dance team. I enjoyed the musicality of dance, but it wasn’t until 8th grade that I found my love for singing. I was discovered by the choral director of my school who told me I should sing, and so I did. What I didn't expect to learn was that some of the most genuine, accepting, and loving people on the planet are singers. I've been a part of a vocal group ever since. NSA proves this point further, even though I've left my family, I'm blessed to have found one just as loving with NSA. I don’t know where I’d be without them!” -Ken-Jakob

“I have always loved music. I grew up in musical family, so I’ve been singing and performing for as long as I can remember. Musical theater followed by chorus for seven years used to be how I experienced music. When I was making decisions about college, I knew I wanted to go beyond my comfort zone and look for a new musical outlet. I learned about No Southern Accent and decided to audition, which I now have learned was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I am so excited for this year and the years to come now that I am a part of this amazing family.” -Leah
